Cinema Bar & Cafe - Shortwave

Shortwave’s café bar is a stylish café bar attached to Shortwave Cinema – a fantastic independent cinema and café bar based in Bermondsey Square. The café bar is a great destination in its own right and the al fresco seating an added bonus.

See: Shortwave for further details.

Aveqia – DIY Restaurant

It’s a lot more than a Do it Yourself restaurant. Following success in Sweden, Aveqia has opened in London. Aveqia is described as ‘a top-class restaurant as well as a social event and place to carry out team building activities and ideas’. Taking the idea of client dining to the next level, you have the opportunity to cook with your party as well as enjoying the fruits of your  hard work – a term described as ‘active cooking'.

Its a great idea and one we can see as a great opportunity also for workplace and employee catering operations.

Park Catering Advice

Park cafes often have a loyal following from dog walkers. The Serpentine Bar & Kitchen in Hyde Park has a very polite but clear sign advising of the rules for dogs. Explaining the position often makes it much easier for catering customers to understand the reason for such decisions.

However, they were more than happy to provide us with a water bowl for our very own Mr B to refresh himself outside.

Champagne + Fromage

Described as ‘a combination of two favourite French imports bringing rustic fare and fizz to London’. Located in Covent Garden, the Champagne + Fromage menu includes tartines, frogs’ legs, snails, charcuterie and a wide selection of cheeses and champagne.

Monthly cheese and champagne masterclasses are held covering various topics, including teaching guests how to pair cheese and Champagne.

The trend for eateries serving Champagne with more rustic and often less obvious food choices in down to earth environments continues to gather apace. See our next Foodshort for a less obvious Champagne combo.
